"Sinking Feeling" For Couple At Glen Osmond
Rare Sinkhole Opens Up In Foothills
It's been a scary night for a young couple who were "parking" in Adelaide's foothills overnight.
They were enjoying the city's streetlights from a vantage point at Glen Osmond when a 4x4 metre sinkhole opened up underneath them just before midnight.
Their Suzuki 4WD was swallowed by the ground on Sunnyside Road.
The pair from Murray Bridge were unhurt but emerged from their vehicle shocked.
Locals believe there are a lot of abandoned mine shafts in the area and one of them may have given way.
The vehicle's being winched out by a tow truck today.
