Minister blames Unions
Pic credit: CFMEU
There is talk the Gold Coast won't be ready to host the 2018 Commonwealth Games.. with many of the venues and even infrastructure creation already behind schedule.
The Federal Tourism minister, Steve Ciobo, says union 'dirty dealing' is to blame.
In a direct attack on the CFMEU, the Minister says key projects have been derailed and purposely sabotaged in response to builders' resistance of the latest enterprise bargaining agreement.
"There are risks that the infrastructure won't be completed in time.."
"You see, the unlawful activities of good friends of the Labor party, the unions, in particular the millitant and extreme CFMEU, are providing a direct risk to the successful completion of Games infrastructure and indeed the Games Village for the athletes themselves"
Labor's state Commonwealth Games minister Stirling Hinchliffe has hit back, denying claims there are any delays.
